TypeMoji

Social media research/analysis and intervention.
Spring 2018

This project explores the potential of communication through digital platforms. My collaborator, Heeseo Chunand I researched existing social media platforms to develop our TypeMoji concept.

TypeMoji’s inspiration comes from the visual literacy within this digital age. Emojis, for example, help us communicate emotions beyond text and has become ubiquitous for communicating. We wanted to look at the intersection of both visual image and type. Emojis are exclusive to images while text is set to one typeface within different platforms. TypeMoji combines image and text to express personal emotions through words and visuals.

We also put thought into generative typography as well as speech recognition technologies. With speech recognition software that’s developing, the interaction is not only physical but also verbal. It would be recieving data and generating type accordingly.
